Why training regularly is hard. 3 Reasons from the Life of a Lifestyle Editor

The most important thing is to understand that this is normal and not to blame yourself.

You have already bought a new sports uniform and a fitness subscription and swear that you will exercise at least three times a week. And go for a month, two, three… And then something happens, training becomes less frequent, you no longer fly to the gym, but crawl or even throw the subscription into the drawer until the next promise to start all over again.

I think that was the case with many amateur athletes. This question is not new, but it is always relevant. On such a "swing", maybe not everyone rides, but most.

For me, fitness is a pleasant hobby, to which I am ready to devote a sufficient amount of time. But we are all human beings, and everyone has processes in their lives that can sometimes interfere with stability. Starting from difficulties at work or in the family, general physical and psycho-emotional state and ending with global changes like moving or having a child.

At such moments, you have to revise your life schedule and make adjustments to it. It often happens that the training goes to the second, or even to the third plan.

Three cases that prevented me from going to training

Job change

When I changed jobs, I didn't have any strength to force myself to go to training. At first it was just not up to it, and then I somehow got used to the schedule of classes. It was getting harder to convince myself to at least run. I had to turn to the coaches. And no longer even to acquire knowledge and work out the technique, but just to motivate you to come to the gym. The money has been paid, and they are waiting for me there at the appointed time.

Injur

A knee injury forced me to give up training for a while. Then, on the contrary, I really wanted to go to the gym, but it was just necessary to give myself a chance to recover. The basic principle of any training is "Do no harm". I was recovering for a long time, and when I was ready to return, another story happened.

Closing of the fitness club

Suddenly my gym closed. It's a sad situation, because it was close to home and was generally convenient for me. Another one was supposed to appear in its place, but repairs and rebuilding are always a very long process. I wandered around different clubs, then persuading myself to go to them, then come to the ancient fitness with the same ancient simulators. I didn't like the equipment or the gym itself at all. I managed to train, but, as they say, "not with all my heart." And only when someone was standing over me.

This is only a small part of the stories that can happen to everyone. I will not say phrases in the spirit of "there would be a desire" or "a figure can be made with any "iron". Yes, they have a right to exist to some extent. But psychological comfort in training is important, anyway.

Why can't we train regularly? The answer is simple – because life is dynamic, just like a person. We may get tired, we may get bored, lack motivation, something hurts and further down the list. Anything can happen, and this is normal.

At such moments, the main thing is to exhale and give yourself time to understand whether you are ready to return to regular training right now. If yes, super! You can resume classes with renewed vigor. And if the answer is "no", ask yourself how much training you need in general and how much time it will take approximately to get back to them. And under what circumstances would you resume them? Is there a necessary resource for this?

The most important thing is to remember that you are not alone and do not try to force yourself into sports. We train for ourselves, and not because "it is so accepted now" or "my loved one walks, and am I worse?"

If it is not possible to normalize the schedule of classes now, if desired, it will turn out a little later. Or maybe you just didn't like what you were doing before. Try to shift the focus of attention to other types of activity – try yoga instead of strength, and Scandinavian walking instead of running. Sports become a habit when we like what we do. And how do we find out what we like? That's right, by trial and error.
